报告摘要:This talk provides a background into the open-source Geometry + Simulation Modules (G+Smo, _gismo_), software library for Isogeometric Analysis. This library provides state-of-the-art methods for geometric modelling and numerical simulation with splines. As will be show during the talk, the library is designed to be modular and extensible, and is made available in MATLAB, Julia and Python, with a base written in C++. In this talk, several features of the library will be briefly highlighted, with focus on the design of the library and the (generic) implementation of IGA.


报告人简介:Hugo Verhelst is an engineer and mathematician from The Netherlands. He studied at the TU Delft, starting with a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Engineering, a double Master of Science in Maritime Engineering and in Applied Mathematics, and a PhD focussing on Computational Mechanics. In his PhD thesis, titled "Isogeometric Analysis of Wrinkling", he developed novel approaches to solve wrinkling instabilities in thin membranes. After his PhD, Hugo moved to the University of Florence to work with Prof. Giannelli on spline adaptivity. He combined this with a part-time appointment at TU Delft to support the FlexFloat project, where isogeometric analysis is applied to the modelling of flexible floating solar platforms. Since November 2024, Hugo is working at the University of Pavia under supervision of Prof. Reali, to work on the application of novel adaptive spline methods to the problem of volumetric phase-field fracture. During his PhD and Post-doctoral research projects, Hugo contributed to a large extent to the Geometry + Simulation Modules (pronounced gismo), making contrubutions on assembly routines, shell and solid elements, structural analysis algorithms and adaptivity schemes.
