报告摘要:In this talk, I will first review some recent results about shear flow stability in viscous fluids. These include the stability threshold problem of Couette flow and monotonic shear flows in periodic channels. Then I will discuss the optimal 1/3 threshold for Cuettte flow in the whole space. At last, I will present recent results on three types of shear flow instabilities: 1. instability caused by perturbations (either rough or large); 2. instability induced by viscosity; and 3. instability due to boundaries. The first type of instability is related to secondary instabilities. The second type of instability typically occurs in the presence of a boundary, but I will provide an example showing that viscosity-driven instability can also occur without a boundary. The third type is the classical boundary layer instability.


报告人简介:赵威任,现为纽约大学阿布扎比(Abu Dhabi)分校的助理教授。主要方向是调和分析及其在流体力学方程中的应用,已在Ann. of Math., CPAM, ARMA, JMPA, Mem. Amer. Math. Soc.等国际著名数学期刊发表多篇论文。
